What would Christmas look like if it lasted for 77 hours?
In 2017, shortly after receiving his Master of Divinity, the author traveled to the small hillside community of Santa Barbara, Brazil, about an hour east of Rio de Janeiro, and spent three months serving the local mission.
There was plenty of work to be done.
He cleaned 20,000-liter cisterns, removed a tree root from the bottom of a well supplying water to different levels of the mission, and prepared approximately 80 meals for people in need each weekday.
But among all the work, something else happened—an experience the author describes as a 77-hour Christmas.
